Disadvantages:

The Contraceptive Injection:

This is a hormonal contraceptive.
The injection slowly releases progestogen (a hormone). This hormone stops ovulation, makes the cervix mucus too thick for the sperm to swim through and thins the lining of the womb so an egg can't implant.
The injection can prevent pregnancy but NOT STIs

Advantages:
Don't have to worry about contraception (Effects last up to 12 weeks afterwards)
